Welcome to the Anderson Graduate Program's admission office. My name is Annie Glisson, and my official title
Is Coordinator of Admissions, I am available to assist you with the application and admission process. You can
reach me by email at aglisson@unm.edu. Please note,
during peak times, I will answer email once a day.
Our degree is designed for people without a business undergraduate degree so there are no required prerequisite courses. We recommend that you have math, calculus and introductory microeconomics (MATH 180 at UNM and CNM + ECON 106 UNM or ECON 201 CNM).
Professional Track: If you have completed an undergraduate degree in a discipline/major other than accounting or your program is not AACSB accredited, then the professional concentration is for you. Students applying for the professional concentration must complete an introductory financial accounting and an introductory managerial accounting course prior to admission (MGMT 202/502 and MGMT 303/503). The courses must be within 5 years of application with earned grades of B or better. Students may also take the prerequisites at CNM. If your prerequisites have been taken at another institution, please email ProfMACCT@mgt.unm.edu to ensure course(s) you have already completed meets one or both of the prerequisite requirements.
Advanced Track: If you have completed an undergraduate degree in accounting from an AACSB accredited program, the advanced or tax concentrations are for you. These programs are designed for individuals who have already earned a BBA with a concentration in accounting from an AACSB accredited institution and wish to pursue advanced studies in accounting and/or taxation.
United States Citizens and Permanent Residents may apply with the Anderson School of Management Graduate Admission Office. If you hold a VISA of any kind, you are required to apply with the Office of International Admissions. International applicants, please continue to the UNM office of International Admissions here: http://www.unm.edu/admissions/guidelines/international.html.
Please note: Do not pay a second fee to Anderson. International Admissions is charged with ensuring that each application is complete and compliant with the admission practices set by the University of New Mexico (UNM) before it can be forwarded to the Anderson School of Management for an admission decision. Once Anderson School of Management makes an admission decision, that decision is returned to International Admissions for final processing.
The date we receive your signature page is the submission date of your application.
To begin your degree program in the spring (January-May) semester, submit your application by October 1. If you would like to receive an admission decision before spring registration opens, apply by September 1
To begin your degree program in the fall (August-December) semester, submit your application by April 1. If you would like to receive an admission decision before fall registration opens apply by March 1.
The Anderson Graduate Admission's office is separate from the UNM Admissions office and we may not be able to access to material sent to UNM admissions. The Anderson Graduate Admissions mailing address is:
Annie Glisson
MSC 05 3090
1 University of New Mexico
Albuquerque, NM 87131-0001
You may mail your signature page and transcripts, or hand deliver to the Anderson Advisement Center located at 1924 Las Lomas Blvd, (south of Lomas across from UNM Hospital and directly west of the UNM police department).
Applications enter the review pipeline based on the date the signature page is received and date stamped and will be reviewed strictly in chronological order. The application review process starts with me, Annie Glisson, Coordinator of Admissions. I review each application to ensure it is complete and compliant with the admission practices set by the University of New Mexico (UNM) and the Anderson School of Management. Once this step is complete, I will send an email confirmation that will: 1) Acknowledge receipt; 2) Indicate whether the application will be held for additional documentation, or forwarded to the admission committee for a decision. Because of the volume of applications I receive around the application deadline date, this stage can last anywhere from six to eight weeks. Once the application is sent to the admission committee, it can take anywhere from one to three weeks for a decision to be made. Those decisions are emailed to the email address you provide on the admission application.
Note to 3/2 and postmasters applicants: Additional documentation is required as detailed in step 6 below.
The key to success is to apply when you have time to commit to creating a complete application package which includes ALL transcripts and test scores.
To register for GMAT go to: http://www.mba.com. To register for the GRE go to http://www.ETS.org. The GMAT/GRE school code for the University of New Mexico is 4845.
International students should check dates and locations of the GMAT/GRE in their country.
With more hands-on, in-class hours than any other program in New Mexico, the Anderson School's GRE & GMAT prep programs are designed to give students an intensive, effective prep experience, taught by our own masters level testing experts!
Participants spend over 40 hours in classroom instruction, take four full length computer-adaptive practice tests, and have access to additional tests and drills for further study. During the course, instructors focus on the core math and verbal skills required to succeed PLUS the test-taking techniques taught by the best programs from across the country. http://mba.mgt.unm.edu/testprep For more information - or to register - email testprep@unm.edu or call 277-2525.
I applied to UNM before and had to provide my transcripts at that time, can't you just get those transcripts?
The Anderson Graduate Program Admission Office is a separate
admissions office and you are completing a self-managed graduate
application. We ask that you provide one (1) transcript from
every institution you attended, whether you graduated or not.
Be sure to request these early enough to meet the application
deadline. They must arrive enclosed in the original registrar's
sealed envelope. NOTE for
UNM transcripts: if you attended
UNM provide only
an unofficial, or
Loboweb, transcript. Transcripts
can be sent to you so that you can include them with your
application package, or can be mailed directly to:

Admission Office.
Do you require letters of recommendation?
Beginning with the Spring 2011 semester Anderson does NOT require letters of recommendation.
Do you require a statement of purpose?
Beginning with the Spring 2012 semester Anderson does NOT require a statement of purpose.
Do you require a resume?
Beginning with the Spring 2012 semester Anderson does NOT require a resume.
Why do you encourage me to correspond to you by email?
I think of email as a record of what has been said between me
and the applicant. I want you to have the information that will
assist you with submitting a successful application giving you
the results you want. My goal is to disclose as much information
as possible so that you can make the best application and
admission decisions you can.
Who can I call to find out if my application has been received?
Although it is tempting to call the office to verify we have
received an application you mailed, please be aware that this
is a one person office. The admission coordinator can either
field questions concerning the receipt of your application, OR
process applications. During peak times, in order to be efficient
as possible and to devote big blocks of time to processing
applications, the admission coordinator will only answer phone
calls and emails once a day.
Does everything need to be turned in together, or can I turn in what I have now?
When application material is received by our Graduate Admission
Office, every attempt will be made to match it with a signature
page. If no signature page is found, that item is placed in a
loose material folder, filed alphabetically. During the initial
review process, if an application is found to be incomplete, the
loose material file is checked before the applicant is notified.
Can I email my package to you?
In order for the application process to begin, we need the
original signature page with your original signature. It must
be mailed or hand delivered.
I couldn't get the GMAT scheduled before the admission deadline, can I still apply?
If you are unable to schedule a test date prior to the admission application deadline, we recommend that you postpone your admission application to the next available semester.
What is the last day I can turn in an application and still be considered for the current semester?
Beginning with the Fall 2013 application review cycle, application deadlines are firm.
For application deadlines, visit http://www.mgt.unm.edu/deadlines/
How long does it take for me to receive an admission decision on my application?
Once your application has been reviewed by the admission
coordinator, you will be sent
notification of what happens next. During peak times this
can take up to 8 weeks. Once your application has been forwarded to the appropriate admission review
committee, it could be 1-3 weeks for a decision to be returned.
Do you need a copy of my GMAT/GRE scores?
We are required to receive an official score report directly
from GMAT or GRE. We access these scores using the applicant
last name and first name. However, it can be helpful to know
what is on the score report that was given/sent to you. If you
are able to provide a copy (not the original) we would like to
have it.
I am now a US citizen; however, my undergraduate transcripts are from a foreign university. They are in
English do you still need them to go through the evaluation process?
We require an evaluation that shows your foreign education level of study in comparison to the U.S.
education level of study, and the US education equivalent cumulative GPA. We recommend the following
credential evaluators:
Education Credential Evaluatorshttps://www.ece.org
National Association of Credential Evaluation Services http://www.naces.org/
World Education Services http://www.wes.org/
I turned in my CNM transcript when I applied to the Anderson BBA program, will you be able to use that, or do I need to provide another CNM transcript?
The undergraduate (BBA) admissions office and the graduate (MBA/MACCT) admission offices are separate. Information you submit for your undergraduate student
record stay with that record. When you apply to the graduate program, you need to provide a complete application package which includes transcripts from each
educational institution you have attended.
